365 GRAINS WITHOUT GAINS

By Adeleke Adeite

A typical Deutsche Bahn railway station clock

Every tick of the clock adds to your age in life.

Does it add or subtract from your value in life?

Each seconds comes with supplies and surprises,

Do you snob them or make them your super spices.

Each minute is either a miracle or a mild manacle,

What you do with it brings you rest or ridicule.

Each hour brings hope and help for a new height,

How you use it determines your next… flight.

Days are designed to bring dull or daring desire.

Fly high, fall flat or flaunt flowers you are free to fire.

Each week is a world of woe, worth, want and wealth,

What you wield, bring you love or hate, life or death.

Each month is a costly commodity, more like money,

It becomes part of your history when you spend it.

Each year comes in a package of yearnings or yield,

365 grains without gains makes a fruitless field.

Tick, another time has gone now…
