INTERNATIONAL ESSAY COMPETITION 2012

Theme:“Dreaming the World without Poverty”

Poverty is a phenomenon that troubles life aspects in almost every country in the world. However, it is not impossible to eradicate, in fact there are countries that have succeeded in improving the living standards of its people.

Looking at how countries have improved, do you think it is possible to totally end poverty? Please express your opinion on how to create the world without poverty, including examples from cases, studies or researches that you wish to engage in.

Guidelines:

  1. Essays may be submitted by anyone age 18 to 25 years old (as of September 23, 2012).
  2. Essays must be 1000 words or less, typed in English.
  3. Essays must have a cover page indicating: (1) essay title (2) your full name (3) handphone number/e-mail address (for those from outside Indonesia) (4) nationality (5) age as of September 23, 2012 (6) sex (7) school/university name (if applicable).

BSN 2012 NYSC ANNUAL ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) is a non-profit-making interdenominational Christian organization founded on 8th February 1966 to meet the Scriptural needs of Nigerians and to help people interact with the Word of God.

The organization hereby announces her maiden edition of NYSC Annual Essay Writing Competition/National Symposium. This is an opportunity for interested graduates serving their fatherland to analyse and proffer solution to the socio-economic and political challenges confronting the nation using both Biblical and intellectual approaches. The grand finale will be a national symposium where the best six participants will be brought together to defend their write-ups.

The essay must be original, empirical and meet the standards for publication in local and international journals. All entries should be typed in 1.5 line spacing on A4 paper not more than 4,000 words. The font type should be Times New Roman with font size “12” points.

About the Awards

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is a global competition to find the best student entrepreneurs in the world. In 2011, over 1700 applicants from 20 countries applied. As the premier global competition for high school undergraduate and graduate students, GSEA serves as a catalyst to inspire students to start and grow new ventures. To qualify, students must: be currently enrolled in a recognized school, be the owner, founder or controlling shareholder of a for-profit company and be principally responsible for its operations. The business must have been operational for six months from the time of application.

The best overall entrepreneur for Nigeria will be selected at the national finals where students from over 30 schools will compete at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry in August. The winner of that competition will be invited to the New York Stock Exchange trading floor to compete in the Global Finals in November during Global Entrepreneurship Week to compete for serious cash prizes and services.

This annual essay contest is organized in an effort to harness the energy, imagination and initiative of the world’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development. GUIDELINES:
1. Essays may be submitted by anyone up to 25 years old (as of June 30, 2012) in one of the following age categories:
a) Children (ages up to 14) b) Youth (ages 15 – 25)
2. Essays must be 800 words or less in English, French, Spanish or German; or 1600 characters or less in Japanese, typed or printed.
3. Essays must have a cover page indicating

            FIDELITY BANK CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP 2012

Entries for the 5th Edition of the Annual Fidelity Bank International Creative Writing Workshop are now being accepted.

Participants are expected to read and discuss a wide range of fiction as well as complete short writing and reading exercises. Entries closes Monday, 4th June, 2012.

This year’s workshop will focus on fictionpoetry and creative non-fiction. Candidate should make their submissions according to their field of interest. Note that multiple submissions will not be accepted.

To apply, send an e-mail to creative.writing@fidelitybankplc.com. Your e-mail should bear the title “Workshop Entry”. The body of the e-mail should contain the following:

2. Your address

3. A few sentences about yourself (not more than 50 words)

4. A writing sample of between 200 – 1000 words
